Adopting a social-political perspective, the conference brought together a diverse range of participants from across the national spectrum, including new members of parliament, local and community figures, activists, representatives of educational institutions, social movements, unions, and non-governmental organizations. The participants engaged in panel discussions, moderated by leading journalists, around four key themes: “the Lebanese national idea,” “democratic institutions and the rule of law,” “women in Lebanese political life,” and “the policies needed for a new Lebanon.”
This event is intended to be the first in a series of conferences that aim to facilitate dialogue in Lebanon around topics essential to creating a modern vision for a better Lebanon and to encourage consensus-building around the reforms needed to realize this vision.
